SCOPE: The purpose of this section is to inform customers about the CM product part numbering rules. It provides a description of the different generic fields constituting CM Computer P/Ns thus facilitating understanding and ordering of our products.

CM-XX-XX is module name.
Examples of module names are:
CM-DI-40 64 Channel Optocoupled Input Module
CM-AD-45 32 Channel (16 differential), 12 bit, 100 Ksps Input Module
Select one option from each of the following categories

/V Version of Module
1 = Version 1 of module.
2 = Version 2 of module.

n = Version n of module.

/T Temperature Range
C = Commercial (0 to +60 ºC). Only available with fiberglass PCB.
I = Industrial (-20 to +70 ºC). Only available with fibreglass PCB.
R+ = Military Rugged+ (-40 to +85 ºC). Only available with conduction cooled PCB.
883 = Full Military 883 (-50 to +90 ºC). Only available with conduction cooled PCB.


/M Mechanical Version
A = IEC 297 Standard mechanics with front panel. J2 and front panel I/O connectors.
B = IEEE P1101.2 Military mechanics with wedge-locks & J2 I/O connector.


VMEbus Module Part Number Example

CM-DA-40/1/R+/A
- Module is CM-DA-40 24 Channel Optoisolated 12 Bit Analog Output Module
- Version is /1 with 24 D/A channels, 12 bit resolution, without galvanic isolation.
- Military Rugged+ temperature range (-40 to +85 ºC).
- IEC 297 Standard mechanics with front panel. J2 and front panel I/O connectors.

Select one option from each of the following categories


S0 Size

40 = 1 ATR size. 12 6U slots.
30 = 3/4 ATR size. 7 6U slots.
20 = 1/2 ATR size. 5 6U slots.
20/3U = 1/2 ATR size. 10 3U slots.

/B Backplane


BP32L = Standard VME32 backplane for 6U boards fitted with 3 row DIN-41612 connectors. Integrated wiring lines across the backplane between J2 I/O pins and the front panel connectors.

BP64H = Extended VME64 backplane for 6U boards fitted with 5 row VME64x connectors. High profile enclosures feature an additional 50 mm area of free wiring space below the backplane.

BP10L = Standard 10 slot VME32 backplane for 3U boards fitted with 3 row DIN-41612 connectors. This backplane, available only with the CM-RA-20/3U, is user configurable as 2x5 slot for dual redundancy, or 1x10 slot for a standard single system.

BP10H = Extended 10 slot VME64 backplane for 3U boards fitted with 5 row VME64x connectors. This backplane is configurable as 2x5 slot for dual redundancy, or 1x10 slot for a standard single system. High profile enclosures feature an additional 50 mm area of free wiring space below the backplane.


/I Input Power Voltage

28VDC = 28 VDC Input.
115VAC = 115 VAC @400 Hz Input.


/W Power Supply Ratings

1 = 150W Power Supply (+5VDC @10A, ±12VDC @4A).
2 = 175W Power Supply (+5VDC @15A, ±12VDC @4A).
3 = 200W Power Supply (+5VDC @20A, ±12VDC @4A).
4 = 250W Power Supply (+5VDC @30A, ±12VDC @4A).
5 = 300W Power Supply (+5VDC @40A, ±12VDC @4A).
6 = 400W Power Supply (+5VDC @60A, ±12VDC @4A).
7 = 450W Power Supply (+5VDC @60A, ±12VDC @6A).

/F Fans

S = Sealed. No fan installed at the rear.
1F = 1 Standard fan assembly at the rear.
1HA = 1 High Altitude fan assembly at the rear.
2F = 2 Standard fan assemblies at the rear.
2HA = 2 High Altitude fan assemblies at the rear.


/C Color

B = Black.
G = Navy Grey.


/SK Special Feature Kit

Available only for CM-RA-40/BP64H/2HA. Includes the following additional features over-and-above standard chassis features: Power Supply extra hold capacitors, Temperature Supervisory Unit, Extra 3.3 VDC @ 12 A DC/DC converter, EMI kit throughout with fan honeycomb finger-guards. There is also an optional 50W DC/DC converter with customer definable DC output voltage TBD by customer.

/CT Enclosure Cooling Technique

FAC: Flowthrough Air Cooled.
Ambient air is forced over the electronic modules using rear mounted exhaust fans.

S: Sealed.
Low cost, isolated dry-air enclosure with inner fans for internal air re-circulation.
Chassis heat is dissipated by a combination of cold-plate conduction, radiation and free-air convection through the ambient air surrounding the unit.

SEF: Sealed with Extended Fins.
Ultimate heat self-dissipation capacity enclosure that also incorporates internal air re-circulation fans. This dry-air chassis is fitted with over-size cooling fins on top cover, rear panel and side-walls in order to maximize radiation and natural convection (upward flow of air). Cold-plate mounting is recommended.

HES: Heat Exchange Sidewalls.
High performance isolated dry-air enclosure incorporating re-circulation fans inside and rear mounted cooling fans. Heat generated within the enclosure is conducted to the hollow sidewalls heat exchangers where it is dissipated to the ambient environment by forced air cooling rear fans or by vehicle platform air plenum.


/B Backplane Type

VME64x: Military VME64x Backplane fitted with 5 row J1/J2 and J0 connectors.
VME64xK: Military VME64x Backplane fitted with 5 row J1/J2 & key-slot J0.
