All CM chassis are supplied with leading-edge fully compatible VMEbus backplanes.

The chassis size and accepted Eurocards defines the type of backplane and its connectors.
 

Eight different military backplanes are manufactured by CM so we can configure for all types of boards, slot capacities and variations in I/O wiring.

CM backplane PCBs are monolithic, low noise, with two dedicated ground shielding layers and standard passive resistive terminators. They incorporate extra DC electrolytic capacitors for all power supply operating voltages.

Additional TTL circuitry is implemented for Power Fail Monitor functions and for driving the chassis front panel LED indicators. A conventional set of daisy-chain jumpers is fitted in all models, allowing standard configuration like any other backplane on the market.

VME32 backplanes are installed in Low Profile chassis and offer A32/D32 connectivity. They incorporate integrated J2 user I/O routing across the PCB to a set of intermediate D type Cannons. This saves wiring space and improves chassis weight and external dimensions.

VME64 backplanes are installed in High Profile chassis and offer extra I/O capacity. J0/J1/J2 new generation connectors are type VME64x with 5 rows and 160 pins.
